Well classmates, I didn’t make it…I fought the good Dominguez fight & left everything on the playing field. I went out with my head high. I want to Thank all of you for your prayers, emails, letters, & phone calls…they meant more to me & Cathy than words can adequately express. I consider myself the luckiest man in the world to have a wonderful wife, a great life, & such great friends. God Bless all of you!!! See you on the other side….Your friend & classmate….SAM

Sam Neill
September 8, 1943 – February 21, 2015
The Class of ’62 has lost a well-known husband, father, grandfather, classmate and friend. Sam passed from this life with his loving wife of 36 years, Cathy, by his side giving the comfort to him that she had done for so long. His passing leaves a void in all of us that only Sam could fill.
We all knew Sam for his infectious smile, humor and overall zest for life. Most of us only had one picture in our ’62 Yearbook but because of Sam’s school spirit and involvement, his smiling face could be seen throughout.
Sam was respected and liked by just about everyone and a friend whose loyalty could always be counted on when it came to “watching your back”. He had a great personality but had no problem defending himself or a friend when the situation warranted.
In all areas of his life Sam was aggressive, focused and always gave 120% to any endeavors he undertook. His personal and business successes are too numerous to mention. He was a proud man and “doer” who always had the courage to strongly state his position and overcome challenges.
All through his final challenge he touched the lives of many. He never gave up and continued his aggressive fighting spirit, focus and unrelenting courage in the face of overwhelming odds. He chose to endure the daily pain rather than take medication that would render him unable to function. Up until his final few days he displayed a degree of bravery not to be duplicated by many.
Sam loved his time with us at Dominguez High School. This was Sam:

Class of 64 Getting Ready for Big Day
WOW! WHAT A WONDERFUL EVENING!
If you weren’t there, you should have been. The whole event and evening was filled with love and happiness. Everyone in attendance (100+) enjoyed being there. (In late September, we will post a video of the entire evening on this web page.)
If you weren’t there, it went like this; The hospitality suite opened at 4:00 on Friday night and by 8:00 it was filled with classmates. Saturday afternoon it continued as classmates started arriving early in the afternoon and continued arriving until 6:00 when the doors opened to the ballroom. There was a large crowd waiting to register at 5:00.
Walking into the ballroom for the first time set the tone for the evening. It looked beautiful. The tables had gold table cloths and scarlet napkins with a beautiful center piece made and put in place by our decorating committee. The committee also had hung banners on the wall, which they had made especially for the evening, along with other decorations they had made and bought. The room had 13 tables of 8 and they were all filled.
The program was outstanding. It began with a video tribute to those classmates who have passed away. The video is very moving featuring the deceased classmate’s senior picture (or another if not available) with Michael Jackson’s song, “Gone Too Soon” playing in the background. (This video will be posted on this web page soon.)
Our Mystery MC turned out to be Richard Williams. He did an masterful and fun job of reviewing the last 50 years of our lives and the crazy things our generation did. Many of his business and charitable accomplishments were recognized in his introduction.
Vicky Zackheim was recognized for the many books and screen plays she has written. Ray Holt was recognized for inventing the first micro processor in the world and his life-time work with kids around the world. Sharon Hays sang two beautiful songs from Broadway Musicals. What talent she has. All took time to make comments of their lives.
We were supposed to be out of the ballroom by midnight but at 2:30 the catering staff asked the remaining group to move out to the lobby. The breakfast area was filled with classmates on Sunday morning.
We plan on continuing to keep this web page in place going forward. We ask that if you have any, please send your reunion pictures to Ray Holt for posting. We will be posting the videos we have on this page, and when the edited version of the 50th is ready at the end of September, it will also be posted.
Thanks again to everyone who worked to make this reunion one of our best ever and to everyone who came.
Bob Thornton
Chairman

50 Year Reunion Update
THE DOMINGUEZ HIGH SCHOOL CLASS OF 1962
With one month to go until Your 50th Reunion date, there are now approximately 70 people paid and another 15 or 20 who have said they will be there but have not paid as yet. We are planning on 100, but unless you come we can’t be sure.
It has been decided to not increase the ticket price of $85 to $95 until August 4th, one week before the event. We have to turn in the number to the hotel catering department and pay for the meals and rooms at that time. But payments received after that date and payments at the door will remain at $95. If you know of a classmate that is not coming because of the cost, please let Barbara Beacon Fryer know, (bafryer@socal.rr.com) and arrangements can be made to ensure they can attend.
We have a wonderful evening planned for Saturday night and a hospitality suite that will be open Friday and Saturday all day and Sunday morning.
ONLY YOUR ATTENDANCE WILL MAKE YOUR 50 YEAR REUNION A
BETTER EVENT THAN IT IS PLANNED TO BE AT THIS TIME
Class of 62 50th Fast Approaching
THE DOMINGUEZ HIGH SCHOOL CLASS OF 1962 – 50 YEAR REUNION
Robert Thornton, Committee Chairman
Welcome to the Dominguez High School Class of 1962’s Web Page. We hope you find it enjoyable.
This Web Page is special to us because it was designed and is maintained by one of our own classmates, Ray Holt, who made history by designing and producing the first computer chip in history; two years before Intel invented their chip. We plan on showing a video of Ray’s historic accomplishment the evening of the reunion. Ray will be there all weekend and would love to talk to his classmates about how it all happened and its historical significance.
The main reason for this reunion is to reunite you with not only your former classmates but also, as Bob Dylan said in his poem, “Some of the first friends you ever had”. The Mission of your reunion committee is to make available a time and place for this to happen. We have scheduled August 11, 2012 at the Embassy Suites near the Orange County airport as the time and place. The rest is up to you!
One of our classmates recently told me that, if she had to do it all over again, she would not have “just” hung-out with her close friends but would also have taken the time to get to know everyone in our class. The last 50 years has shown us that we had an unusual number of very special individuals in our class, some of whom we might not have gotten to know very well, if at all. Maybe we can take some time at this reunion to get to know those we did not know as well as we might have, taking away for the event some “new” close “old” friends.
Well, the evening should be enjoyable if not fun. We will also have a “hospitality suite” open Friday evening and Saturday and Sunday mornings. The hotel lobby is also conducive for small groups to gather.
There will be a professional videographer / documentarian filming and interviewing Classmates throughout the evening. This video will be available for purchase at a nominal price. You can place your order with the videographer that evening. Please feel free to be interviewed and to pass along your thoughts to your fellow Classmates who may or may not be here to experience it.
We have also selected a “Mystery MC” from our class to MC the evening’s program. This should be a good change from the past formats. Come and guess who it might be.
The reunion could not happen without the help and support of so many of our classmates. The following classmates are involved in putting on our reunion: Alan Edwards and his wife Gerri, Johnel Booker Combs, Joan Bailey Bibee, Margo Kuzee, Sheryl Mills McCamey, Jeanne Archambault Krogh, Edie Palmer Durham, Bill Bell, Richard Williams, Bob Thornton, Barbara Beacon Fryer, & Ray Holt
Most of all, SHOW UP AND HAVE AN ENJOYABLE EVENING!
